In DEC of 2017 I made the decision to focus part of my brokerage business on Grocery Anchored Centers in North Carolina. After almost 10 years in the business I had come to a couple of conclusions:
1. The number of Grocery Stores in NC has seen a lot of new competition in the last 3-4 years and the market is about to shift and there will be winners and losers.
2. There is not a single firm in the state that specializes in Grocery Anchored Center brokerage and there is most certainly the opportunity to become the “Go to” guy for this type of property.
So In January through April 2018 I compiled an enormous amount of data and started identifying trends and made the decision that I will start contacting all Food Lion Center owners- almost 400 of them in NC to identify potential sale and acquisition opportunities.
In July Kroger decided to exit the Triangle Market leaving some dark stores and some repositioning opportunities.
